I’d been busy writing posts to schedule for July when Jirah told me she’d nominated me for the Liebster Award. I was definitely surprised but extremely grateful.
I thought it would be a fun post to write, especially after writing some hefty posts – it can take me days to write a single blog post.
And then, Chelsea sent me a message saying she’d nominated me! So, this post is going to be jam-packed. Make sure to check out Chelsea’s blog, HERE, and her Liebster Award post, HERE. Thank you, Chelsea, for nominating me!
The Liebster Award
Okay so, in both Jirah’s and Chelsea’s posts the rules are slightly different. I know that 11 is the magic number for this award and I’ve just merged the two separate rules.
- Thank the person who nominated you, and put a link of their blog to your blog.
- Answer the questions given to you.
- Share 11 facts about you.
- Nominate 2-11 blogs that you feel would enjoy blogging about the award and notify them about it.
- Create 11 new questions for your nominees. If so, the more creative the better.
Describe your blogging journey in three words.
Blogging for me has definitely been hard. I’ve struggled, I’ve deleted blogs, and I’ve restarted countless times. It can be hard to stay motivated, but it’s inspiring, and if I could add a fourth word, it would be rewarding. My journey has inspired me to be a better person and to be inspired by different things. It’s also allowed me to grow as a person. I’ve discovered who I am through blogging, and I couldn’t be more grateful.
What do you love most about blogging?
I absolutely love connecting with other like-minded people! It’s my utmost favourite thing about blogging. I can share my thoughts and inspire change while being inspired by others.
How long does it take you to compose a blog post?
It varies from post to post. Most take a day or two, whereas others can take a week or longer. These kinds of posts take a couple of hours, and so do my more rambling style of posts. My more informative ones take a few days because I’ll research and write for a few hours for a couple of days. I’m also taking on bigger tasks – like my veggie garden (I have no idea whether this post is up yet or not) and challenges – which take longer as they take time.
Okay, coming back to this: I’ve lied. Every post takes at least two days to write.
Imagine visiting your 7- or 10-year-old self, what would be his/her advice/message to your current self?
Keep loving life and keep at it. Focus on art and doing the things you love. Primary school is easy, but high school gets a lot harder (not necessarily the school work, but your health and friends). The stigma around mental health stops you from asking for the help you need. Instead, you battle your thoughts by yourself. I’m still not sure whether this was the right thing to do, but you start blogging to escape from reality. And please keep going – blogging helps you embrace who you are. Don’t worry about what others think of you. Embrace who you are and do the things you love. Life does and will get better.
What’s one thing you learned during this time of quarantine?
Hmm… I’ve learnt a few things about myself and my motivation/drive for things. I still completed my uni assignments to the standard that I while on campus and that I completed them days earlier. So, I know that even at home, I’m still motivated to get my work done. I’ve also learnt that I’m determined to do things in full. I started my veggie patch, and I was determined to get it done and up and running.
I guess I’ve learned that I’m more motivated and driven than I previously thought.
Coffee or tea?
Both. I drink a lot of coffee and I drink a lot of tea. I couldn’t choose. They’re both great for different reasons.
What are the three things you are grateful for today?
- The sun is shining as I write this.
- My cat, John, is always by my side.
- I’m able to do what I love.
When you are feeling down, what do you do to cheer yourself up?
This is something I struggle with. Whenever I’m feeling down, I struggle to get out of my bad mood. I tend to just wallow in it haha. Although, now that I think about it, dancing always puts me in a better mood. Listening to the music I love and bopping along to it is always enough to help me out.
What’s one habit you want to break and why?
My messiness. I tend to leave all my belongings throughout the house and all over my bedroom floor. I’m messy and there’s no denying it, but it’s a habit I definitely want to break. Being messy isn’t fun, I get told off by my parents (mostly mum) and feel overwhelmed in a messy room. I also want to move out soon, and being messy while living alone or with a roommate won’t be the best option.
What is your dream destination?
Honestly, right now, Australia. I want to explore the country I live in more. It’s better for the environment and Australia has so many different landscapes. Right now, places around South Australia are on my bucket list. Although, I would also love to travel to New Zealand.
What language would you like to learn?
I want to learn Auslan, which is Australian Sign Language. I think it’s an important language to know. Otherwise, Arabic, Mandarin, Spanish, Italian…
Where are you from, and where do you live now?
I’m from the Barossa Valley in South Australia, and that’s where I’m living now. I’m hoping to move into Adelaide when I move out.
Favourite sweet & savoury?
A good waffle is something I always crave. As for savoury, I love vegetable pasta. Pasta with a tomato-based sauce, mushroom, olives, broccoli, capsicum, onion… YUM!
Favourite artist/band? Or favourite genre of music?
It can vary as my music taste tends to change with my moods and months. Matt Maeson is a longtime favourite as well as Queen, Oasis, Bastille.
Do you have any siblings?
Yep! I have a younger brother and sister.
Favourite animal and why?
Hmm… I’ve always had a love for Siberian Tigers, Jaguars & Black Jaguars, Pygmy Elephants and Tasmanian Devils. I’m not really sure why though.
The best holiday you’ve had?
I honestly don’t know. I feel like this is my answer for everything haha. Travelling overseas for school was amazing. Visiting my cousin was also amazing. Going to the Flinders Ranges was incredible (even though I was sick). I’ve had a lot of holidays and I think each of them offer something different.
How long have you been blogging for?
I have no idea! I think I started blogging in 2015. So, it’s been a while. As for Elysian Haze, I think I created this blog in 2018. However, I’ve restarted it multiple times.
Your favourite hobby?
Definitely blogging, photography and art! I love writing for sure. I’m also starting to enjoy gardening and have so many plans for the garden.
Do you have any pets? If so, what type of animal and what is their name?
Oh my goodness, I have a few haha. Living on a farm and as its lambing season, we have a few more. Not too mention all our pet lambs from previous seasons who are chilling in the paddocks now.
So, we have three cats, three dogs, a fish, chickens (which I’ve yet to name) and eleven lambs.
Cats: Rudolph, Sniper and John. Rudolph is my sister’s, Sniper is my brother’s and John is mine. They’re all so different.
Dogs: Sapphira, Matilda and Phoebe. They’re all kelpies and work dogs, but nonetheless their pets and part of the family.
Lambs: Cuthbert, Cecil, Wonda, Atrid, Obelix, Diana, Pongo, Betty, Veronica, Lois, and Clark. Cuthbert’s mine, but then again they all are. We tend to have the first three ‘designated’, but then it gets chaotic. Sadly, we lost Archie and Phil earlier in the season otherwise they’d be on that long list too.
What is your guilty pleasure?
I don’t think I have one? Well, not that I’m aware of haha.
Do you have favourite movie? or a top 3?
I’m not really a big movie person anymore. I used to love movies, but now I’m not phased by them. As a result, I don’t have a favourite movie or even a top three.

The rules state that you need to nominate two to six blogs, but I’m not going to specifically nominate anyone. If you want to do this post with the questions I’ve created GO FOR IT!
Sometimes we need to write a fun post like this to keep the motivation for blogging going. It’s hard as a small blogger. You’ll compare yourself to other bloggers, you’ll feel unmotivated and question whether you should keep blogging or not… I constantly feel this way and that’s why I love doing these posts. They can be that push to keep going.
So, if you’re feeling uninspired and questioning your blog then I nominate you! If you do it or don’t, let me know if you’re struggling a little to keep at it and I’ll give you and your blog some love xx
- What’s your greatest achievement and why?
- If you could spend a day with ANYONE, who would you spend it with and why?
