First of all, let’s hope this morning routine sticks. I really like the idea of having productive morning and night routines, and as I mentioned in my Taking control of my life post, I haven’t been feeling like myself and want to change that. I want to improve myself and become better. I’m a sucker for the 5 AM productive morning routines on YouTube, and the idea of waking up super early to get stuff done. And I would absolutely love to be able to be one of those people, but 5 AM is a little too early for me. I’ve tried in the past and have failed, miserably, multiple times.
So, I’m going to give 6 AM a go. It’s still early, but not too early. I mean, normally without a routine I wake up between 7-8 AM.
No matter the time I wake up, I want to start my day strong.
But here’s the run-down of my new morning routine:
6:00 AM: Wake up
This is where it all begins. This is where I can set my intentions and start my day off right. I’ll roll out of bed, make it and get dressed.
6:05 AM: Meditate
Meditation. It’s a habit I’ve been desperately wanting to build. Now’s my chance. Five minutes that’s all I’m wanting.
6:10 AM: Yoga
A habit that has come and gone and occasionally decides to say hello. I love the way I feel after yoga, I love bending (even though I have no flexibility and suck at it). It makes me feel better. It makes life seem a little less bad.
6:25 AM: Get ready for the day
Pack my bags, write a to do list, get started on some work. Whatever it may be, it’s time to prepare for the chaos of life, of my life.
And this is where things are going to get complicated… So, hopefully, you can make some sense of it all.
MON + TUES: 7:10 AM: Drive to go swimming
I’m hoping to join the swim club, and they have trainings Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday mornings and then Friday nights. I’m not going to go to the Wednesday sessions.
MON + TUES: 7:30 AM: Swim
With the swim club and hope my shoulder doesn’t hurt.
MON 8:15 AM: Shower
I don’t want to smell of chlorine for uni.
MON 8:30 AM: Leave for uni
I have uni at 9:10 on Mondays, so, I will have to finish earlier.
TUES 8:30 AM: Shower
I still don’t want to smell of chlorine.
TUES 8:45 AM: Drive home
I’m sure this is self-explanatory.
For the other days:
7:15 or 7:30 AM: Go for a run or bike ride or walk
Okay so, for the other days when I’m not swimming, I hope to go for a run or bike ride or at least walk. Although, one the weekends I probably will either do a longer run, longer bike ride, trail run or go on a hike instead.
8 AM: Foam roll
This is a new one I want to try. I’m tight and I want to feel loose. I want to roll out those muscles, and fully relax (even though I’ll probably be in pain). I’m a very tight human being.
8:15 AM: Shower
I don’t want to be stinky or sweaty.
9:00 AM: Breakfast
If I can stick to this it will be GROUNDBREAKING! I suck at eating breakfast, and I’m hoping that waking up earlier and exercising will help me feel hungry enough to eat it.
9:15 AM: Start the day
Once I’m finished with breakfast I’ll be ready to get on with my day and more than likely sit down at a desk and study or work or something like that.
WED + FRI: Be ready for uni @ 9
On Wednesdays and Fridays uni starts at nine, so, I want to get ready a little bit earlier.
And there you have it: my new 6 AM morning routine! I’m so hoping I can make this routine stick. I think I’ve fallen in love with the idea of it, so, I want to do it.
Do you have a morning routine? What does it look like? Or do you just take each day as it comes?
This is such a wholesome post. Also, I love and miss swimming so so much. It’s been a while year since I’ve seen the inside of a swimming pool!
Thank you! I haven’t been swimming in a while due to my shoulder injury. It’s definitely something I miss. Hopefully you get to go swimming again soon!
