I’d love to say that this year has been a complete flop. But I’m still optimistic about it, especially when it comes to my fitness future.
COVID-19 has forced us all into our homes – whether we’re self-distancing, self-isolating or quarantining – and we’ve had to adjust. Being home is important to me right now as I want to flatten the curve in Australia and due to my asthma and past pneumonias I’m at greater risk. I’d like to think we’re doing okay in Australia. Looking at stats from the US, UK and Europe at the moment scare me though. I really hope you’re all staying safe and taking precautions.
my fitness future
In terms of where my fitness was at before I started self-distancing and before my university went online, it didn’t really exist. Before uni, I had a gym membership and I went a little bit in January but after I got a migraine in February I kind of stopped going. I was going to join my uni gym but was lazy and never got round to it.
And now we’re here…
At-home workouts are the new normal and I’m actually excited about it. Let me tell you why…
Ever since I joined my uni gym last year I’ve loved being at the gym. I was following Chontel Duncan’s FIERCE program on the SWEAT app. After letting my subscription run out I decided to resubscribe. Initially, I was going to either do BBG again or try PWR at Home; however, those plans changed when I saw that FIERCE at Home had been released.
Right now, I’ve just finished up beginner week two. There are four beginner weeks before it goes into the 12 weeks and I thought I better ease myself back into working out by doing them. I’m going to share monthly updates with you and highlight the key things I notice.
I’m also participating in #ywaNURTURE by Adriene and am excited to see how incorporating yoga helps me.
In order to achieve what I’d like to achieve while working out at home I’ve set some goals.
become more flexible
I’d love to get bendier and become more flexible. My muscles are so tight and they need a really good stretch. Being flexible has always been a dream of mine.
lose body fat
While I’m pretty content where I’m at in terms of my body I would still like to lose some body fat. I don’t care about my weight anymore but lowering my body fat % is what I’d like to focus on.
run x2 a week
Running for me doesn’t really exist right now. I’d like to try and get into the routine of running two times a week and maybe even build that up to three.
workout x4 a week
I’d love to workout four times a week. Right now, I think it’s a pretty sustainable goal. I’m doing three times a week at the moment.
drink more water
I don’t drink enough water. I’d like to change that.
I also don’t really fuel my how I’d like. I’d love to make my own meals, meal prep and just eat healthier in general.
I’ll probably go into more detail about these goals at a later date with my Becoming Better series. But this is just a brief rundown for now.
I hope you enjoyed reading about my fitness future and that you have a wonderful day!
