When it comes to thinking about living plastic-free, zero-waste, low-waste, sustainably or even just a little eco-friendlier it can get a little overwhelming. Changing your habits, switching products… It’s a lot.
So, let’s take it room by room; routine by routine. Starting with the bathroom.
Our routines will be different but here are 10 swaps we can all make to work towards a zero-waste bathroom.
While you’re at it, switch to a conditioner bar too! I use Jungle from Lush. The Zero Waste Store also sells conditioner bars to go with their shampoo. Plus, I believe you can also use apple cider vinegar as conditioner as well!
Switching to a bamboo toothbrush is super easy and helps out our earth. There are so many different options available.
Okay so, toothpaste. There are so many more eco-friendly options available. You can get some natural toothpaste, toothpowder, toothpaste tablets, even toothpaste jelly. I’m currently using Boom! by Lush.
Face & body wash
Try using natural package free soap instead. There are plenty of DIY recipes available online too! I’m using Fresh Farmacy as my facial cleanser at the moment.
Instead of using plastic razors or ones that have plastic attachments switch to a safety razor. These babies will last you a lifetime! I’ve got a Parker razor. Kappi sells safety razors, so does Zero Waste Store and I’ve seen them all over in zero-waste shops.
If you’re someone who flosses your teeth switch to a low-waste option. Get one in a refillable glass jar, like this one here.
If you have hair opt for a bamboo hairbrush. If you have hair, wow, that was kind of aggressive. Anyway, if you’re in need of a new hairbrush invest in a bamboo one over another plastic one.
Reusable menstrual product
If you’re someone who gets a period try and find a reusable menstrual product that works for you. I use this menstrual cup and love it. There are so many cute reusable pads out there as well as period underwear.
Recycled toilet paper
Another super simple switch that helps our earth. The family and I use Who Gives A Crap toilet paper and we all absolutely love it. A bulk order keeps us going for months haha. We’ve even switched our tissues and paper towels to Who Gives A Crap too! There are other brands out there as well!
